Humanitarian Efforts

First Lutheran offers more than a hundred ways in which you can provide a much needed service to the congregation, the ELCA, the neighborhood, the Hampton Roads community, and our neighbors all around the world.

...I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visited me...

Charity Food Donations are received the first two sundays of each quarter at First Lutheran Church. The non-perishable food items and personal hygiene items are collected in the Welcome Center and given to local ministries such as NEST, Ghent Area Ministries, and the International Seaman’s House.

Collection Dates: January 2 and 9, April 13 and 10, and July 3 and 10.
